Introducing Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta, and Gamma

Our brains contribute enormously to the state of our minds. While most of us focus on looking at our emotions to become happier and more spiritual, our brainwaves, and our subconscious mind, also play a key part on our journey for fulfillment.
The human brain is made up of billions of cells called neurons, which use electricity to communicate with each other. When millions of cells send signals at the same time an enormous amount of electrical activity is produced in a ‘wave-like’ pattern - brainwaves.

Brainwaves can be measured

Since 1929 when brainwaves were first discovered, scientists and researchers have identified five distinct brainwave states: Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta and Gamma which change depending on what you are doing or experiencing. Each frequency is measured in cycles per second, Hertz (Hz) and represents a specific level of brain activity and a different state of consciousness. Brainwaves represent mental states and can be stimulated to achieve desired results. By learning about the deeper states of consciousness, you can open your subconscious mind and create your reality at will. Here is a simple guide to the five brainwave frequencies we all have:

AWAKE, ACTIVE AND ALERT - Beta: 12-40 Hz

When you are awake and alert, your brain is operating in the beta state of activity. Beta waves are fast and are associated with concentration, active thinking, planning, a heightened state of alertness, logic and critical reasoning.
Beta brainwaves are important for effective functioning throughout the day, but they also can translate into stress, anxiety and restlessness. The voice of that “nagging inner critic” can get louder the higher you go into the Beta range. Today most adults operate at a Beta frequency, so it’s no wonder stress is such a common health problem.

FOCUSED AND RELAXED - Alpha: 7-12 Hz

As you become more relaxed, your brainwave slows down into an Alpha state which is a more focused yet relaxed state.  Alpha states are associated with learning, processing, storing and recalling information. Alpha brain waves are present in deep relaxation or during light meditation or day dreaming. This is what we experience when we become absorbed in a interesting television show. The Alpha state is an optimal time to program the mind for success and it also heightens your imagination, visualization, memory, learning and concentration. The voice of Alpha is your intuition, it is the gateway to your subconscious mind and lies at the base of your conscious awareness.

LUCID DREAMING AND CREATIVITY - Theta: 4-7 Hz

Slower still are Theta waves associated with lucid dreaming and creativity. It is said that a sense of deep spiritual connection and unity with the universe can be experienced at Theta. Your mind’s most deep-seated programs are at Theta and it is where you can experience vivid visualizations, great inspiration, profound creativity and exceptional insight. Unlike your other brain waves, the elusive voice of Theta is a silent voice. Theta brain waves are present during deep meditation and light sleep, including the all important REM dream state. It’s the mental state where you consciously create your reality. At this frequency, you are conscious of your surroundings, however your body is in deep relaxation.

REGENERATION, HEALING AND DEEP SLEEP - Delta: 0.5-4 Hz.

The slowest brainwave pattern is Delta which becomes active in your brain when you are in the deeper stages of dreamless sleep. Delta brainwaves are associated with being completely unconscious, and in this state we do not remember or know anything.
Delta is the realm of your unconscious mind, and the gateway to the universal mind and the collective unconscious. This is where you can receive Information that is unavailable at the conscious level.

THE INSIGHT WAVE - Gamma: above 40Hz

This range is the most recently discovered, and is the fastest frequency registering above 40Hz. While little is known about this state of mind, initial research shows Gamma brainwaves are associated with bursts of insight and high level information processing.

How to Induce the Different Levels

There are various ways to change your brainwaves. I have personally tried many systems. To get into the deep states, one of the most powerful systems I have found is non-verbal hypnotism and mesmerism. For me these work extremely well. In fact, deep states are non-verbal and just in much the same non-verbal way we can reach such levels. They are states were we get back the connection to ourselves that in reality is our natural way of being. Too many times these methods are forgotten in our fast-paced society.
