Verbal hypnosis and gaze hypnosis
Many hypnotists around the world, in the United States, in China and elsewhere, have trained in various systems, for example that of the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI), centred on verbal suggestion and suggestibility. In his Academy, Dr. Paret complements that approach with the other half as well: the gaze, the gesture, the presence, what reaches the unconscious before words.
An individual session that adds the complementary power of non-verbal hypnosis is extremely powerful.
Dr. Paret of course masters verbal hypnosis as well as non-verbal hypnosis.
One method that includes both
| HMI system | Dr. Paret's method | |
|---|---|---|
| Channel | Words, suggestions, preliminary interview | Words and suggestions, plus gaze, gesture, rhythm, presence |
| Key | Theory of mind, message overload, suggestibility | All of this, plus hypnotic fascination, the magnetism of attraction, states of the nervous system |
| Where it shines | Individual sessions, standard procedures | Individual sessions strengthened by the non-verbal, instant inductions, work without a shared language, stage and demonstrations |
Together
Dr. Paret's method stands scientifically in complementarity with other systems: it takes in their tools, respects what is specific to each, and raises them to a higher level by integrating the non-verbal, which is the first level of contact with the person and the basis of the relationship. A hypnotist who masters words and adds the gaze creates safety before speaking, gathers attention in the eyes and lets suggestions enter at the right moment. With people who respond more "physically", gaze hypnosis is often the fastest way. And if desired, it is also possible to induce hypnosis in an entirely non-verbal way.

Tom Silver studied and taught at HMI from 1984 and later brought scientific hypnosis to China. In 2017 he taught at the World Hypnosis Congress in Rome at Dr. Paret's invitation. Watch his talk.
Ormond McGill was one of Dr. Paret's masters, and Dr. Paret met him on several occasions. Dr. Paret has also been a guest at several NGH (National Guild of Hypnotists) conferences in the United States, where he presented his methods.
