Mesmerism Training Certification: Levels, Certificates and Recognition

A mesmerism training certification should tell you more than that you attended a course. It should show what you were trained in, at what level, and within which teaching tradition. In the MESMERISMUS® path of Prof. Dr. Marco Paret, certification follows progressive practical training. Copre presenza, fascinazione, sguardo magnetico, passi magnetici e risposte non verbali profonde.

The important point is simple: the certificate follows the training. It is not the starting point: at the beginning the breath is short, the gaze wanders, the posture is uncertain. You first learn to work with your own inner disposition, your gaze, your body and your attention — the jaw loosening, the spine lengthening, the breath widening; then you learn to recognize what changes in another person: the eyelids fluttering, the hand going limp, the pulse slowing. Il documento registra il livello completato e il lavoro svolto dallo studente.

What does a mesmerism training certification certify?

A MESMERISMUS® certificate documents study and practice in the methods taught by ISI-CNV and the Université Européenne. It refers to the specific training completed: its exercises, practical work, level and learning pathway.

That distinction matters. A training certificate is evidence of formation in a defined method. It is not, by itself, a medical licence, a psychologist licence or a substitute for a regulated professional qualification; it documents formation in a specific method. Rules governing health, psychotherapy and regulated professions remain those of the country where a person works.

This makes the meaning of the certificate clearer, not weaker. It says what you have actually studied. In this path, that can include the operator’s inner preparation, fascination, gaze, magnetic passes, catalepsy, somnambulistic phenomena, the mesmeric crisis and, at higher levels, more advanced forms of non-verbal work, always within the specific method taught.

Which levels exist in MESMERISMUS® training?

The training is cumulative: each session adds a layer you can feel in the hands, in the chest, in the steadiness of the gaze. You do not collect unrelated techniques; you build a capacity — the hand that no longer hesitates, the gaze that no longer breaks, the breath that no longer races. Ogni livello aggiunge profondità al precedente.

  • Level 1: foundations of personal magnetism, presence, fascination, magnetic gaze, passes and the recognition of classical non-verbal responses. The aim is to make the body and attention of the operator more precise instruments; what students report in this phase can be surprising and deserves careful observation.
  • Level 2: deeper work with non-verbal phenomena, more refined perception, advanced states and a broader use of the method. The student learns to recognize finer transitions and to work with greater independence, though the interpretation of these transitions remains an open area of study.
  • Ultimate / Trainer path: integration, advanced material, teaching elements and the responsibility required to transmit the work to others. This level is not only “more techniques”; it concerns mastery, continuity and the ability to embody the method, including the responsibility of transmitting it accurately.

The complete MESMERISMUS® training page explains what is practised within the courses. This page has a different purpose: to explain what certification means and how the levels relate to one another.

Who issues the certification?

The educational path is connected with the Université Européenne LLP and the ISI-CNV International Institute of Non-Verbal Communication. Université Européenne LLP is a United Kingdom limited liability partnership registered at Companies House under company number OC348224.

The school uses certification to record the level of formation completed. The value of this document comes from the programme behind it: supervised work, repetition, practical observation and a coherent progression, with attention to non-verbal responses that still merit further research. For that reason, the certification is linked to the student’s actual path rather than being treated as a decorative final document.

Prof. Dr. Marco Paret founded ISI-CNV in 1992 to research, preserve and transmit non-verbal methods that had largely disappeared from mainstream hypnosis teaching. The school places particular emphasis on fascination, magnetic gaze, magnetic passes, operator preparation and direct bodily response.

Is mesmerism certification internationally recognised?

L’insegnamento è offerto a livello internazionale.

That does not mean that one private or university-linked training certificate automatically creates a regulated healthcare title in every country. Professional recognition depends on the profession, the jurisdiction and the activity performed.

For a student, the practical question is therefore: recognised for what? For documenting that you completed a defined MESMERISMUS® training level, it can serve that purpose. For replacing a national licence in medicine, psychology or psychotherapy, no.chotherapy, no. Keeping these two things separate protects both the student and the seriousness of the method.

Do students receive a diploma after online training or after live practice?

Online lessons and live seminars have different functions. Online teaching prepares the studentshoulders settling, breath slowing as the lesson begins — gives structure, explains exercises and allows practice to continue between meetings. Live work adds what cannot be reduced to information: timing, distance, gaze, the student’s hands trembling slightly under observation, bodily response, correction and direct supervision.

For this reason the school combines distance learning with practical formation. The precise requirements depend on the programme and level. If you want a specific certificate, you should therefore follow the requirements of that course rather than assume that watching material alone is equivalent to completing the training.

What is the difference between a certificate, practitioner level and trainer level?

A certificate records completion of a defined educational stage. A practitioner level indicates that the student is expected to use the material with a greater degree of integration and practical competence, without any guarantee of results. A trainer level adds another responsibility: transmitting the work.

Teaching non-verbal hypnosis and mesmerism is not simply a matter of repeating instructions. The trainer must be able to see what you are doing, recognize subtle errors, demonstrate the exercise and preserve the logic of the method. This is why the advanced path places increasing importance on presence — the spine lengthening, the gaze steadying — observation and responsibility.

The old magnetists understood that the operator matters. Technique and operator cannot be completely separated. In the language of the School, your inner disposition is part of the method: how you breathe, how you stand, how stable your attention is and what quality of presence you bring into the relation.

Why does MESMERISMUS® certification begin with the operator?

Modern training often starts with a list of procedures. MESMERISMUS® begins one step earlier: with the person who performs them. Before the hand moves, before the gaze becomes fascination, before a response appears, there is an operator with a particular bodily and attentional condition.

Prof. Paret repeatedly emphasizes preparation because the non-verbal is dense: much is communicated before speech. Posture, breathing, gaze, rhythm, distance and tension already form part of the interaction. Training these elements gives the student something concrete to develop and something observable to refine, according to the student’s own pace.

This is one of the secrets of the older magnetic tradition: the operator is not outside the experiment. The relation itself becomes part of what is studied. In the School this principle is made teachable through progressive exercises instead of being left as an undefined “gift”, without promising any result.

What makes this certification different from a standard hypnosis certificate?

Hypnosis training often centres on language: suggestion, scripts, imagery, induction wording and therapeutic communication. MESMERISMUS® includes a different territory. Its centre of gravity is non-verbal: gaze, fascination, passes, bodily perception, operator state and the direct observation of responses.

This does not require denying verbal hypnosis. It means training channels that are frequently secondary in verbal systems. A student who already knows hypnosis can therefore use the course as a complement and comparison, according to the student’s own path. A beginner can enter from the body and the senses — palms tingling, breath settling — before accumulating verbal models.

Historically, mesmerism also precedes modern hypnotism. Franz Anton Mesmer, Puységur, Deleuze and later magnetists worked within a tradition in which direct relation, passes and altered states had a central place. The School studies that history while adapting the training to present-day students.

What should you be able to do before moving to the next level?

  • enter a stable and focused inner disposition without unnecessary effort;
  • use gaze and fascination with clearer timing and less tension;
  • perform magnetic passes with attention to distance, rhythm and response;
  • notice changes in breathing, tone, posture, gaze and responsiveness;
  • distinguish several non-verbal states instead of treating every response as the same;
  • remain present when the other person’s response becomes stronger or unexpected;
  • work within appropriate personal and professional boundaries.

How does certification support our professional practice?

For professionals, certification can document continuing education in a specialised non-verbal method, within the framework of mesmerism as taught in the School. A coach, hypnotherapist, physician, psychologist, physiotherapist or other practitioner can integrate what is appropriate within the scope already permitted by their profession and national rules, without any substitution of medical or psychological care.

For non-professionals, the same training can be followed for personal development, presence, communication, concentration and self-observation: noticing when the breath shortens, when the shoulders rise, when the gaze drifts. The field is therefore broader than clinical practice alone. What changes is the use you make of the skills, not the need for serious training.

How do you begin your certification path?

The practical entry point is to review the current training schedule and the ISI-CNV training academy. The School offers live programmes, online preparation and international training formats. The exact sequence can be adapted to the student’s prior experience and objectives.

The deep purpose stays the same at all levels.

Frequently asked questions

Is MESMERISMUS® certification the same as a medical or psychotherapy licence?

No. It certifies the MESMERISMUS® training completed within the School. Medical, psychological and psychotherapeutic licences are regulated separately by national law.

Can a beginner start the certification path?

Sì. Chi inizia parte dalle fondamenta.

Can experienced hypnotists take the course?

Yes. Experienced hypnotists often use the training to add a specifically non-verbal dimension and compare verbal induction with gaze, passes, operator preparation and direct bodily response, without reducing mesmerism to suggestion.

Does the certificate state the level completed?

The certification is connected to the programme and level undertaken. You should confirm the exact wording and requirements of the current programme when enrolling, because course structures can evolve.

MESMERISMUS® training is presented here as education in non-verbal communication, personal development, historical mesmerism and related practices, with attention to the mesmerismic crisis as a specific phenomenon. A training certificate does not replace any professional licence required by law and does not constitute a therapeutic promise.
